Jake and Aimy met on JDate on September 2, 2008. Aimy was 18 years old, just starting her freshman year of college at Santa Monica College. She was born and raised in Los Angeles. Jake was 21 years old, starting his fourth year of Computer Engineering at UNLV, and he had lived most of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On October 4, 2008 they met in person for the first time at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles. It was magical, despite the awkwardness of first meetings. However, they were definitely in love, and could see themselves with one another for the rest of their lives (even after only one month of acquaintance).
For the next year and ten months, their relationship remained long-distance. They saw each other once a month, for just one weekend at a time (since they were students, they couldn’t afford to see each other in person more often than that). They used Skype almost every night to talk to each other.
In the Fall of 2009, Jake began the process of applying to various law schools. He applied to nine schools and only one of them was in Los Angeles (that school was Southwestern Law School). In the spring of 2010 Jake was officially accepted into Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, and began making preparations to move there. His official move-in date was July 15, 2010. Jake began his first year of law school that year, and Aimy began her first year at California State University, Northridge (transferring from Santa Monica College, after two years). When they both finished school that spring, Jake took Aimy on a trip to Las Vegas over Memorial Day weekend in 2011 as a treat for both of them. They arrived in Las Vegas on Friday in the late morning. On Saturday evening, Jake proposed to Aimy on a private gondola ride at the Venetian hotel.
Aimy is now 22 years old, and Jake is 25 years old. Jake is in his third and final year of law school, and Aimy recently received her B.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge. Their wedding day was June 24, 2012.
