Mike and I were both ready to give up on finding someone on JDate. I was at a point where I figured I had nothing to lose, and after stumbling across Mike’s profile a few times, I decided to message him. A month went by and nothing happened… I told my dad (it was his idea and desire for me to be on JDate) that I was done. He told me to give it a chance just one more time though. My dad has always been very intuitive and I figured if someone messaged me I would see what they are like. Mike soon responded, apologizing for not getting back to me sooner; he thought his membership had expired and he had given up on JDate as well. He didn’t know when he would be able to sign in again so he sent me his email address and we started talking. It didn’t take long before we decided to meet up for frozen yogurt. Frozen yogurt turned into hours of conversation and we both were hooked.

As it turns out, I had been following in Mike’s footsteps for many years before catching up to him.  Even though it was years apart, we both went to the same high school, were in the same drama department, went to UCF, worked in the same ice cream shop in Orlando, and moved back home to Boca Raton. It was meant to be.

success-amanda-michael-tmb2A little over a year into dating, Mike and I decided it was time for our parents to meet. The morning that they were going to meet, he told me he had a surprise for me.  When we left for the “surprise,” Mike grabbed a box – not a ring box – but a big box. When we arrived at our surprise location, Mike took the box out and said we were putting a puzzle together. Anyone who knows me knows about my love for puzzles. It was a very sweet puzzle of a collage of us, but I was still disappointed that it wasn’t a ring… and it seemed to be missing some pieces. Mike found the missing pieces and as I was putting the last few pieces in, I saw him grab something else out of the puzzle box and get down on one knee.

I was so caught off guard that it took me about 20 minutes to figure out that the last few pieces of the puzzle spelled out, “Will you marry me?” Little did our parents (except my dad) know that they wouldn’t be meeting the parents of their child’s boyfriend/girlfriend at dinner that night, but instead they were meeting their future in-laws.

Mike and I are getting married on May 25th in Boca Raton and we can’t wait to celebrate our marriage with tons of family and friends. Thank you JDate for helping me find the love of my life!
