We are writing to thank you for giving us the forum to find each other.

We were both at a point in our lives where we wanted to meet that special someone but found it very difficult with our hectic schedules and commitments to our children. We both knew we wanted to meet someone who had a similar background and thought JDate would be the perfect place to meet. Robert’s daughter gave him a three-month subscription to JDate as a birthday present.

We had both gone on several dates and had met some very nice people, but had not found anyone with which we “clicked.” Robert was looking through profiles one day when he saw my picture and instantly knew he wanted to meet me. I, on the other hand, had quite a different experience upon first seeing his picture. I did not think he was my type based on first impressions, but after reading his profile, I decided that because he sounded like such a wonderful person and seemed to have great values, I shouldn’t be so quick to judge. I decided that we would meet, but I did so without any expectations since I wasn’t that attracted to his pictures.

Boy was I wrong! We met at a place called City Cellar in Westbury for dinner and from the moment we saw each other, it was literally love at first sight. We both agreed that our pictures did not do us any justice. Our first date began at 7:00 pm and before we knew it, it was after midnight and the waiters were waiting for us to leave so they could close. The night went by so fast and we knew instantly that the connection we had together was something special.

Our first official date was on December 23, 2007, and after speaking to each other for about two months, we found we had so much in common! We both had three children exactly the same age: Two 26-year-olds, two 22-year-olds and two 16-year-olds; three boys and three girls between the two of us. Our families hit it off immediately and our children have become the best of friends, just like The Brady Bunch.

The rest is history. We were married on January 3, 2009 and we want everyone to know that it can happen to them too. We both searched for about a year using JDate to find our “perfect match” and found the experience of meeting people on the site to be a positive one.

Tips for other JDaters:

Our advice to all of those searching is don’t give up! You never know when the love of your life will pop up. And one last piece of advice…don’t judge a book by its cover.
