I had long given up on finding “that special someone” on JDate, but one Saturday evening when all my “coupley” friends were out and I was home alone, bored and fed up with the single life, I decided to re-subscribe for a month.

I was looking through some of the guys’ profiles and nothing was doing it for me shall we say, until I saw Adam’s. It wasn’t his profile so much that attracted me, but more his amazing smile – he was smiling with his eyes and that was a huge YES in my book.

I sent him a message, not expecting to hear back from him, and the morning after (Sunday) he had replied. We talked every day and texted constantly and then finally met on that Thursday. From then on, we were inseparable. It was one of those feelings you hear about but never believe…we both knew we’d end up together pretty much from day one.

This is a second marriage for both of us and we have three boys between us. I have one son, Joel, who is 15 and Adam has Luke who’s 14 and Matthew who’s almost 12. We all get on fantastically well and we couldn’t have asked for anything better…plus the future in-laws get on famously with one another too…oh the joy!

We’ve had our challenges, like any couple, but we have an unbelievably strong relationship and are very much in love. This relationship has clarified to us what love actually means. We both thought we had “it” within our first marriages but realize now (through what we have) what “it” should really have been.

Finally, I think that what made our experience so special was that when Adam and I met, there was no pretense, no mind games and no ridiculous “tick list” that so many JDaters seem to have. We got on brilliantly, were attracted to one another, had a lot in common and to finish the fairy tale…we are going to live happily ever after.

We have been together almost 18 months and Adam proposed to me on my birthday in December 2009.

Our engagement party is booked for February 2010 and we are getting married in February 2011.

It really does seem like only yesterday when we first met, but then it also seems we have been together a lifetime.

Thank you JDate for bring us together, we can’t thank you enough.

  1. Just want to say, I’m form the other side of Borehamwood, so I’m really pleased that I can read a success story a little closer to home.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that after a long term relationship breakdown, I’ll find my prince on Jdate too.
    Here’s hoping!

  2. I like the way Carolyn saw it all in Adam’s Smiling Eyes. Good Luck for 2011 & I Wish them a Happy Life Together FOREVER! Well done JDate2.

  3. This is a beautiful love story for so many reasons. As much as JDate features inspirational success stories they usually show younger couples who appear to be entering their first marriage. This second chance at a big love story at midlife gives a lot a lot of hope to so many people married or single in this stage of their lives. They seem so young again and focused on what love really means. It’s a inspirational to read their story.
Throw in the combined Brady Bunch family element and this just adds a little bit more to the fantasy that you can have a lovely peaceful life with children from a previous marriage. Mazel Tov!

  4. This is the most realistic Jdate success story I’ve ever read! I also like the fact that she made the first move. I’d really like to know the percentage of women who make first contact on Jdate.
