Dear JDate,

cont-mt-cori-scottWe still argue over who contacted whom first on JDate, but I think that Scott contacted me. It was two years ago in December that we met at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I knew Scott was special because he got me to break my JDate rule of NEVER going out to dinner on the first date. Our first date lasted for about eight hours and the rest is all history.

After about a year and a half of dating, Scott proposed to me at the Mayflower Inn, a romantic spot nestled in Washington, Connecticut. We are getting married on October 27, 2007.

Although it was challenging at first, I am finally able to now answer the question, “How did you and Scott meet?” It was embarrassing initially, but now I am proud to be one of the many JDate success stories on the Mazel Tov page.

Cori’s Tips for other JDaters:

  1. Always look at who viewed you.
Although it can be time-consuming, make sure you always look at the people who viewed you. While on JDate, I saw that Scott had viewed me, but didn’t email me or send a Flirt. I took the initiative to send him a Flirt, and it definitely worked to my advantage.
  2. Be unique.
Scott’s JDate profile introduction consisted of a joke that made me laugh. It wasn’t the typical, “I never thought I would do this, but my friends and family told me I had to give it a try.” The joke made me want to contact him almost immediately.
  3. Be honest with yourself and other JDaters.
Figure out exactly what you are looking for and make it clear to others. I knew I was interested in finding “the one” and made it clear in my introduction. It said something like “I hope to one day be added to JDate’s Happy Endings.” I guess my introduction was a success since you are reading this now.
  4. Don’t give up!
I was on JDate for several months before I met Scott. Although I went on some awful dates, I never gave up hope. Scott and I have also made many friends from our JDating experiences.

Thank you JDate!
