I signed up for JDate in the midst of a snowstorm during Christmas week 2010. One of the first people I spoke to was Alan Cherney, who claimed he went to the same college as I did (Brandeis), but neither of us recognized each other!

We met up shortly after the New Year on January 4th, 2011. We continued to get to know each other and quickly became a couple. We have enjoyed every moment of our journey together thus far, from runs through Central Park to exploring amazing New York City restaurants to introducing each other to our families. In less than a year, he asked me to marry him on December 10th, 2011.

While Alan and I overlapped at the same school for 4 years, we never met until JDate. While we rarely think about how we actually met, we are forever grateful that we were finally connected with each other.

Alan and I strongly believe that we are each other’s Beshert and can’t imagine life without each other. This year, as Alan graduates medical school, we will be moving to Philadelphia so that Alan can start residency and I will begin rabbinical school at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.

We have begun planning our wedding for October 2013 and couldn’t be happier! We can’t wait until we will be Dr. and Rabbi Cherney.

Thank you JDate for bringing us together.
