How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
Lance and I had been emailing back and forth for a few weeks and found that we had a lot in common – we grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same college and had mutual friends, yet somehow we had never actually met each other.

For our first date, we decided to meet at a local Houston restaurant. However, I thought we were meeting at the bar for drinks and he thought we were meeting for dinner, so he had made reservations in the dining room. When I arrived, I thought we would meet at the front of the restaurant first to actually meet in person before we sat down. I waited outside and in the front of the restaurant by the hostess stand for a few minutes and … nothing. I looked inside at the bar area, and didn’t see him anywhere. We hadn’t exchanged phone numbers so I couldn’t call or text him; I waited about 10 more minutes, and then called my best friend complaining, thinking I was being stood up. I decided to go back in and do one last look around at the bar and also at the tables in the dining area, and there he was sitting at a table thinking he was being stood up, too! After I sat down and we laughed off what had just happened, we started talking and didn’t stop for the next two hours. We both felt a connection, went on a second date soon after, then we were inseparable after that.

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I knew very early on that Lance was the one. There were no games between us, everything felt easy, he made me laugh and he made me feel special.

After only two months together, we decided to take a trip to Vienna and Prague for New Year’s Eve. All of the beautiful scenery and sites of Europe were the perfect backdrop to fall in love, and sure enough, we both did. We always describe that trip as truly magical.

What advice would you give other JDaters?
My advice would be to not get discouraged. I had been on JDate on and off for over five years, moving from New York City to Dallas, and then Houston, before I found Lance. I would also say to not let any previous failed JDate relationship stop you from trying again. I was in a three-year relationship with someone that I met on the site, and although we ended up not working out, I knew it had nothing to do with the website. We just weren’t meant to be, so I gave it another try, and I’m very glad I did!
