Nearly every woman on a JDate says she’s looking for a “successful, established man,” which can be easily construed to mean — rich. This type of view only feeds into the stereotype that Jewish women are materialistic. But that’s only if you want to look at Jewish women in a negative light and automatically assume that Jewish women only care about money. I personally don’t know anyone — Jewish or not — who wants a man (or woman for that matter) who doesn’t have a career and is doing well in it as well. A woman shouldn’t be faulted for hoping to meet a man who can provide a stable home for a future family. That said, a woman shouldn’t judge a man whose career isn’t exactly profitable as long as he does something he’s passionate about. We need to all cut each other a little slack here.
