The night Morgan and I met almost didn’t happen. I was at a pre-season Lakers basketball game with my dad and Morgan was at school studying. We had planned to meet up that night after the game for a drink, but I realized while I was there that I was going to get out way too late. So I texted Morgan and told him that I was going to leave at halftime and we could meet up at a wine bar. Morgan texted me back saying that he felt bad that I was going to leave the game early and that we should go out another time. I thought about it for a second because it was a great game, but I had a feeling that this was going to be an incredible date. I texted him back and told him it wasn’t a problem. This ended up being the best decision I had ever made.

At the wine bar, Morgan and I hit it off. We talked about everything! After a night of great conversation, we decided to walk around the beach and share an ice cream cookie. I couldn’t have asked for a better first date. Without JDate, Morgan and I would have never met and I couldn’t imagine the two of us not being together. Thank you JDate for truly matching us together.

How Morgan Proposed:

Morgan decided to take me to work on Saturday. I thought it was weird since this was the first time he offered to do that. I was freaking out the whole day at work, thinking something was going to happen, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. Morgan told me to be outside at 3:45pm sharp. When he arrived, I saw that he was dressed up, holding a single red rose, and driving his dad’s Jag. However, he wouldn’t tell me what we were going to do.

Morgan then drove like a maniac to a hotel in Laguna Beach called Pacific Edge Hotel. We had an awesome room overlooking the sand with an amazing wraparound balcony. Morgan started to unload the car and I saw he had a ton of stuff with him. I told him that I didn’t have any clothes. He said not to worry and pulled out a huge suitcase with everything I would need.

I could tell he was freaking out a little at that point, but I still thought nothing of it. He told me to get ready in the bathroom, which I though was weird since I had the entire room, but went along with it anyway. I was so curious about what was happening that I took the fastest shower of my life and walked out two minutes later to find Morgan in the midst of setting up his guitar, amp, and a video camera. Morgan was shocked to see me ready so quick and told me to hurry out to the balcony. A few minutes later, during sunset, he started playing me the “Jessica Song.” I still had no idea what was happening until he got to one of the last verses; I finally figured it out and started bawling.

Morgan then got down on one knee and took out this light-up ring box. I still could not believe what was happening. I obviously said “yes” and we both just stood there hugging and kissing. I had to ask him later to repeat what he said to me because I was so caught up in the moment that I did not remember at the time. We then picked up dinner and enjoyed it on a romantic boat ride around Newport Harbor. It was so special because it was also the first night of Hanukkah. Our families were so excited when we told them.
