For any pick-up line to work, you have to appear confident, happy, and charming. Before you approach someone, it’s important to keep two things in mind: your audience and your setting.

     Audience:

Does the person appear easily approachable? Do they seem easygoing or uptight? Will they react better to something funny or more serious?

     Setting:

Your setting is important to determine which pick-up line is best. If you’re in a fancy, sophisticated venue, something more formal is best. If you’re in a low-key type of place, something light and possibly even corny is a good option.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here are 7 pick-up lines to break out at your Labor Day BBQ!

     1. Don’t tell me if you want me to take you somewhere fabulous for dinner. Just smile for yes, or do a cartwheel for no.

This pickup line is sure to make someone smile. It’s creative and insightful. It will make the person you’re approaching remember you.

     2. I know someone who likes you. If I weren’t so shy, I’d tell you who.

This pickup line is endearing. If the person you’re approaching is the quiet and shy type, they’ll appreciate it.

     3. I really like your __________.

Commenting on anything that a person is wearing always works well. Both men and women enjoy being flattered. I mean, who doesn’t like a compliment!? This also gives you a chance to follow up with a question, so the conversation can continue.

     4. Hi! My name is…

Introducing yourself is always bold, self-assured, and gets right to the point.

     5. You look like someone that I would like to meet.

Although this pickup line is a bit cheesier, it’s very forward, which the right type of person will like. Some people prefer a daring pick-up line because it’s a bit more assertive.

     6. I saw you checking me out. Does that mean you’d like to buy me a drink?

Enthusiasm and a little bit of cockiness are needed for this pickup line to work. If you can pull it off, it works like a charm.

     7.  I have those exact same shoes!

When you find someone you want to talk to, pick the most stylish thing they’re wearing and tell them with enthusiasm that you have it too. For example, “I have those exact same shoes!” or “I have that identical tie!” It works wonders for approaching both men and women. It’s humorous, so the ice is broken with a smile and a laugh, which are mandatory when trying to pick someone up.

Now that you’ve got a few lines to break the ice, why not meet someone who will appreciate the joke?
