I joined JDate because meeting guys out at a bar was not an option for my career-oriented lifestyle. Before I met Lewis I had been a member of JDate for several years and, although I had yet to meet “The One,” I was confident that I would because my sister and best friend both met their husbands through JDate.

One random Monday, Lewis decided to search out of his age range (I am two years older than him) and he IM’d me. Lewis’ pursuit of an “older” woman would later become a running joke between our friends and family. After our initial online conversation, we started talking on the phone every night, so that weekend we decided to meet in person. Ironically, that night my aunt, uncle and three cousins went to dinner at the same restaurant Lewis and I had chosen. I was running late and told Lewis that my family would actually be at the restaurant. It turns out that Lewis met my family before I did! Being the dating detective that I am, I called my aunt to get her thoughts on Lewis before I arrived. She told me he was adorable and to get to the restaurant as fast as I could. I arrived at dinner and, from that moment on, Lewis and I have been together.

Lewis and I had been dating for seven months when he proposed. I am a self-proclaimed planner so in order to actually surprise me, the engagement took place at his house after we returned home from a party. For my entire life, I’ve thought I wanted a dramatic proposal. After meeting Lewis, I realized that the proposal wasn’t as important as being with him. Lewis and I are getting married in October 2010 and we couldn’t be happier.

Lewis is in school to become a CPA and I am a full-time dentist so planning a wedding has not been an easy task for us. Luckily, my best friend, Stacie Francombe, is the CEO and founder of Get Married Media, a national wedding lifestyle resource that helps brides plan their dream weddings. Stacie is also the host of the hit show, Get Married, on WeTV and offered to help Lewis and I plan our wedding. Stacie and her production crew recently came to Florida to feature Lewis and me in an episode. During our three days of shooting, I was able to find a wedding gown and a talented team of designers who also created a beautiful tablescape that is going to be featured on the June cover of the Get Married magazine. Our episode is set to air in April 2010 and Lewis and I are so excited to see our wedding plans on TV. We had a great time filming together and the whole experience made our wedding feel real.

I always knew that I would find “The One” and I am eternally grateful to JDate for bringing us together.
