I had been on and off JDate for some time. While I had met many nice women, I hadn’t met “The One.”

I received an email reply from Karen two months after I initially contacted her – and I was surprised. We exchanged another email and then spoke on the phone the very next day. The conversation went so well and flowed so naturally, I didn’t want to wait to meet her. So, I arranged to see Karen that very evening, even though I was attending the party of a friend.

I made plans to meet Karen a block from my friend’s home so I could run out during the party, have a first meeting with Karen, and then get back to my party to make sure I wouldn’t be missed.

That night, I snuck out of my party and headed over to the bar to meet Karen. There was an instant attraction – both physically and emotionally. We spoke and laughed for an entire hour. When it was time for me to return to my party, I brought Karen with me to meet all my friends. I knew then, this would be the last first date I would ever have to go on. To Karen’s credit, she was brave to follow me back to a party filled with my close friends that would surely want to learn all about her.

We were inseparable for the next few months, spending almost every day together. I learned that we shared many traits in common, including our love of animals, family and our Jewish heritage.

Our relationship continued to grow as we spent more and more time together. We also grew close to each other’s families, which was something I had always hoped for when I planned to settle down. Our love turned into marriage and I have never been happier. We plan to start our family this year and move on the next stage of our relationship as mother and father.
