Jason and I were brought together by JDate… and by our moms. Desperate for him to find a nice Jewish girl, Jason’s mom bribed him to sign up for JDate by buying him a DVD player. My mom, after seeing how frustrated I was with the dating world, bought me a 3-month JDate membership as a “gift.”

Jason and I started with a few JDate chats, then exchanged emails and phone calls. We definitely had a lot in common (according to an early email, Jason thought I “sounded like a female version” of him), but also complemented each other well (he’s the laid-back type, and I’m – well – not!). At the time, I was living in San Diego and Jason was in Orange County so it took a few weeks to finally meet in person.

We enjoyed a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant and at the end of the meal I ordered dessert for us to share. Jason pretended he wanted some even though he’s not much of a dessert fan (which I learned much later on in our relationship). A week or two later, Jason sent me flowers as a Hanukkah gift, and a couple weeks after that we decided to date exclusively.

After many, many more dates (and lots of driving from San Diego to Orange County), Jason decided to move down to San Diego. Later that year, Jason proposed on the first night of Hanukkah (great gift, huh?). We were married a year and a half later, and our daughter, Daisy, was born this past March.

I was the only girl Jason ever met from JDate, and my sister and her husband also met on JDate. I think it’s safe to say that we are all definitely JDate Success Stories!

  1. I have been on for three years and over 30 dates. Maybe in Cali it’s easy but not in NYC!
